How do I make a reservation?
You can choose from the available apartments on this page and leave your details. We will send you an email to confirm your reservation and to prepare all required documents for your rent.
When is the reservation completed?
After you have chosen your apartment on this page, you will receive an email within two days. This email will be the formal confirmation of your reservation, however the reservation is final only when the first payments have been made (you will receive all information including the draft tenancy agreement by email).
Who can be a resident of MIDI?
MIDI is focussed at housing international students and is therefore a recommended accommodation by Tilburg University. However anybody is eligible to rent an apartment. The maximum stay is twelve months and cannot be extended.
Can we book as a couple or a group?
Unfortunately, it’s not allowed to live with more than one person in the MIDI apartments. Only in special cases we can make an exception. Please contact us to discuss the possibilities.
Can I choose a specific room?
Yes, you can choose any available accommodation. On this page, you can see the available apartments.
What is the duration of the tenancy agreement?
The duration of the tenancy agreement is 1 year (12 months). It is not possible to extend the agreement afterwards. If you wish to rent the apartment for 6 months, an extra fee of €100,- per month will apply.
I would like to rent for a longer period than 1 year. Is this possible?
Unfortunately it is not possible to rent an apartment for a longer period. The apartments in MIDI are intended for short-stay only.
Is there a blanc Tenancy Agreement including appendixes available?
Upon request, you can receive a blanc tenancy agreement including appendixes.
When can I move in?
You can move in when you transferred the first payments, provided us with all necessary information and made an appointment for the key transfer.
What if I would like to start my agreement on a different time than shown on the reservation form?
In case you would like to start to rent an appartement in MIDI Tilburg on a different moment, other than listed on the reservation form, please contact Team MIDI Tilburg and ask for the possibilities!
I will arrive in Tilburg in the middle of a month. What should I do?
The tenancy agreement could start on the first of a month, due to administrative systems. In case you will arrive in Tilburg in the middle of a month, we recommend that you rent the apartment of your preference from the first of the month of your arrival (e.g. when you arrive on 17 August, you rent from August first). It is no problem to hand over the keys later than the first of a month, please indicate your arrival date in de comments section.
You’ll get a 50% discount on the first month’s rent when your actual arrival is in the second half of a month (so after 16th).
What is the cancellation policy?
When you have filled out the reservation form, you will receive a confirmation mail within two days. Please provide us with the required information in time, as mentioned in the confirmation e-mail. If we do not receive the information, your reservation will be cancelled automatically. Cancelling after you have received the tenancy agreement means that we will keep half of the deposit. In case you cancel your reservation shorter than a month before moving in: we will keep the entire deposit. Cancelling shorter than two weeks before arrival: we will keep the entire deposit and first rent. One-off administration costs will not be returned in case of cancellation.
I need to leave MIDI Tilburg earlier than expected. What should I do?
In general, MIDI Tilburg uses fixed contracts. However, we understand that there might be urgent reasons, that my cause an early departure. In such cases, we can cooperate on early departures. Two months prior to your departure, we would like to receive a notification of your scheduled departure. We will also charge an early departure fee. Please ask Team MIDI about the full terms and conditions regarding early departures.
Please note that ‘This academic year ends in June and I want to spend my summer holidays in my home country, so therefore I would like to leave MIDI Tilburg in two weeks’ is not a valid reason to cooperate on early departure.
Financial stuff
How do I pay the rent?
Payment goes by automatic collection. A Dutch bank account is preferred, however most EU/Euro-zone banks can be used as well.
Do I qualify for rent allowance?
Whether you qualify for rent allowance or not, depends on certain requirements. Age, income and the basic rental price are examples. On the reservation page is indicated whether the available apartment of your preference qualifies for rent allowance based on the rental price. The apartments in MIDI Tilburg qualifying for rent allowance only do so in case you’re 23 years or older! Please keep in mind that obtaining rent allowance is your own responsibility. Team MIDI is not accountable or responsible for any issues concerning rent allowance. For more information on obtaining rent allowance, you can visit the website of the Dutch Tax Authority
What are the service costs?
The service costs per month will be €350,- for all apartments. This includes the rent of furniture, equipment and other supplies, supply of electricity and water, tv and internet connection, cleaning of the common areas and windows, maintenance etc.
What is the deposit?
The deposit is one month rent + €500,- for the use of furniture and other supplies.
When will the deposit be repaid?
You will receive the deposit within 2 months after the rental period has ended. €300,- will be automatically deducted from the deposit for the purpose of final cleaning and delivery of the apartments. Eventual damages will be deducted from the deposit as well.
What about residential taxes?
The municipality of Tilburg and the local Water Board could charge residential taxes which are not included in the rent. This may concern e.g. waste levy, purification levy and sewage charges. Such residential taxes are charged directly to the residents and need to be paid to the municipality and/or water board. Unfortunately, we have no influence on this. Those taxes are about €350,- per year.

Is smoking allowed in MIDI?
MIDI is a non-smoking complex. This also applies to e-cigarettes. Smoking is allowed in the outside areas and balconies.
Are pets allowed in MIDI?
Unfortunately, it’s not allowed to have pets in MIDI.
Is it allowed to play a musical instrument?
MIDI is a rather big complex with 66 individual apartments. To ensure a good living climate, tenants should pay attention to reducing noise disturbance at all time. If your musical instrument does not cause any noise disturbance to your neighbours, it’s allowed to play. Music lessons and/or (music) performances are not allowed to be given in MIDI.
What about noise at night?
To ensure a good living climate for all MIDI-tenants, the noise level in the entire building (especially the common areas) should be reduced to an absolute minimum between 22.30h and 7.30h.
Can I bring my own pictures or paintings to decorate the apartment?
Of course you can bring personal decorations to make MIDI even more feel like your home. However, it’s not allowed to screw, drill or nail in or on the walls, ceilings and floors. Feel free to decorate the available cabinets and picture ledges.
Is barbecuing allowed?
Unfortunately it’s not allowed to barbecue on the balconies, other ways of displaying open fire are not allowed either.
Facilities
Is there an internet connection?
Yes, every apartment has it’s own WIFI-network. A personal WIFI-code is available in the apartment.
What kind of audio-visual equipment is in the apartments?
All MIDI-apartments will be equipped with a multi-functional Samsung Frame television and SONOS system.
What size of bed do I get?
All apartments are equipped with a 140×200 cm bed.
Do I need bedding and towels?
We offer you the possibility to buy an additional bedding pack including towels. The costs of our ‘textile package’ are €125,-. It includes bedding incl. sheets, 2 large towels (70×140 cm), 2 medium towels (50×100 cm), 2 small towels (30×50 cm), 2 washcloths and 2 tea towels. The textile package is yours, so when you leave MIDI you can take it with you or donate it. You’re also allowed to bring your own textile of course.
What else should I bring?
Basically, you should bring your clothes and personal (study) belongings. All the rest (cooking utensils, dishes, glasses, decoration, furniture) is already in your apartment.
Is there a laundry?
On the ground floor, a self-service laundry including tumble dryers is located. Every apartments has its own iron and ironing board.
Is there a parking available?
No, there is no parking available since the complex is in the middle of the city centre. In the direct surroundings of MIDI are several public parking garages.
Where can I store my bike?
MIDI offers a big bicycle parking area in the basement.
Does MIDI have an elevator?
Yes.
Will my apartment be cleaned?
No, cleaning your apartment is your own responsibility. All apartments are equipped with a vacuum cleaner and other cleaning equipment. When leaving the apartment, you should deliver the apartment in clean condition (including sanitary and kitchen).
What amenities are available in the apartment?
The apartments are fully furnished and include all amenities necessary for a pleasant stay. The entire list of amenities can be downloaded here.
Other
When can I check-in or check-out?
All appointments will be scheduled on working days (Monday-Friday) during office hours (09.00h-18.00h). Further additional agreements can be made in close consultation. Check-in can not take place before the afternoon of the first day of your agreement’s start. Check-out should be scheduled in the morning on the last day of your contract at the latest. This is to ensure enough time for final cleaning / preparation for the new tenant to arrive.
Does MIDI Tilburg have a caretaker available?
Yes, MIDI Tilburg does have a caretaker! Three days a week, he is available in case you need assistance. Furthermore, Team MIDI Tilburg can be reached on weekdays during office hours or by e-mail in case you need help.
Will my apartment be inspected?
During your stay, your apartment will not be inspected without prior notice. In general, the landlord will not inspect your apartment, unless there is a suspicion of violating the tenancy agreement or house rules. When you leave the apartment, it will be inspected and checked of course.
How do I collect mail?
Each apartment has its own mailbox at the entrance.
What about safety in MIDI?
Safety is very important. The apartments in Midi are equipped with smoke detectors and throughout the building you’ll find sufficient fire extinguishers. All individual apartments have sufficient locks (also on balconies and windows) and spy holes in the front doors. The main entrance consists of double entrance doors which are locked with an electronical entrance system. Visitors can ring your bell at the main entrance and by using a videophone connection you can see for whom you should open the door (or not). The entrance of the basement (where bicycles can be stored) closes automatically. Furthermore, camera surveillance is available throught the building.
How do I contribute to sustainable living?
MIDI Tilburg is an eco-friendly and sustainable building. The apartments are heated by heat pumps and the general areas are provided with electricity by solar panels located on the roof. The building is made with sustainable materials and has a good insulation level.
You can contribute to sustainable living too!
- Turn off the lights and electronic devices when you leave the apartment;
- Close doors and windows to keep the warmth inside the building in winter, or to keep the apartments cool and fresh in summer;
- Reuse your towel and turn off the tap when brushing your teeth;
- Separate your waste, so it can be recycled. Separating waste is mandatory in Tilburg, we will provide you with adequate information on how to separate correctly;
- Avoid food waste; shop smart and take your own bag;
- Use a bike or public transport!
